23-May-2009I have had this tool for some time now and it has repeatedly impressed me by it versatility and ease of use. It really continues to amaze me. Of course I am not a professional person but I am a regular do it your selfer and I use it time and time again to wow my wife as i complete my little projects around the house in record time using it.

Dremel has made versions of their signature rotary tool for a number of years. The Dremel 300-Series Variable Speed Rotary Tool is one that they can be proud of. The variable speed motor starts smoothly, adjusts speeds quickly and stops just as quickly when turned off. The unit is well-balanced, and feels comfortable in the hand. Vibration is kept to a minimum to reduce fatigue, meaning the Dremel can be used effectively for a lengthy period of time. With one of these in your shop, you'll likely find more uses for the Dremel than you'd expect. Pros Incredibly versatile - literally thousands of possible uses Adjustable speed from 5,000-35,000 RPM Sanding accessories are particularly useful for sanding intricate wooden parts Cons Need to purchase lots of optional attachments to fill up all of the slots available in the case Description Includes 55 accessories for cutting, grinding, sharpening, carving, engraving, sanding, polishing, cleaning and more. Very well-written, detailed user guide in English, French and Spanish. Available optional attachments include a plunge router base with an edge guide and circle guide - great for inlay work. The Dremel 300-N/55 includes an accessory kit that contains 55 different accessories. These include high-speed cutters, engraving cutters, sanding drums, grinding wheels, polishing buffers, drill bits, collets, a collet wrench and more. One thing that I found particularly useful was the speed settings section of the instructional manual that shows the recommended speeds for a number of different materials, including softwoods and hardwoods. This is extremely helpful, as improper speed can easily cause burning of the stock when cutting or sanding. The Dremel 300-series comes with a 5-year limited warranty, and has easy access to the motor's brushes in the event that they ever need to be changed.
