How to use the Ladderprotector correctly

1. Check and make sure that the Ladderprotector’s tire tread like bottom profile and the

workplace are free of grease/oil, ice and loose materials.

2. Place the Ladderprotector with the bottom facing the underground as shown in picture 1.

3. Make sure that all four corners of the bottom of the Ladderprotector rest flat on the

ground surface.

4. Place the feet of the ladder (standard fixed feet only) on the indicated area on the

Ladderprotector and check if both feet of the ladder have firm contact with the

Ladderprotector as shown in picture 2 (on the Ladderprotector two arrows indicate the

correct side to use).

5. Check and make sure the workplace and ladder are set up correctly according to

relevant standards and OH&S prescriptions (e.g. an inclination of 1 in 4 and the SWL

not exceeding 150 kg or per the nominated ladder load need to be maintained amongst

other).

6. Undertake a risk assessment to determine if further restraint is required.

Surface information

The Ladderprotector is designed to provide extra grip on level firm surfaces and can in principle be used on bricked and concrete floors, tarmac, grass, wooden floors and decks, marble and tiles, laminated and anti-static floors and on slightly wet floors/in the wet. We do not recommend usage of the Ladderprotector on uneven floors, grease/oil covered floors, hills/slopes, ice, grit and pebbles.

The Ladderprotector may be expected to improve the performance of a ladder in terms of safety by imparting stability under these normal conditions of use and will provide a largeincrease in anti-slip efficiency compared to a footed ladder without an anti-slip device, whenused correctly. We re-emphasise that before usage of the Ladderprotector on any underground/workplace, users should always take an own risk assessment to determine if further restraint is required.

THE LADDERPROTECTOR

The Ladderprotector is an anti-slip device designed to prevent the base of the ladder from slipping. It is kept firmly stuck to the ground by applying 3 times the body weight of the user and its unique bottom grip pattern. It fits all ladders up to 64 cm base width as well as ladders with a stability bar of any length.

The Ladderprotector gives maximum hold on: wet floors, slippery floors and decks, grass, tiles, marble and anti- static floors.

The Ladderprotector is tested by an acknowledged test facility and examined by WorkSafe. The following has been stated:

“WorkSafe is of the opinion when used as intended, the anti-slip device provides frictional resistance over and above the Australian Standard AS 1892.1 (Appendix L) requirements for the foot of ladders. Accordingly WorkSafe has no objection these devices being used in conjunction with the ladders to assist in restraining the base of ladders”.

The Ladderprotector has been widely used by professionals and distributed through Europe and the UK. Trialled and tested, proven track record.

Why use the Ladderprotector?

Safety and OH&S

1.      Every employer, employee and self employed person in Australia who uses a ladder professionally has to comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) prescriptions.

2.      Workplace safety requirements state that single or extension ladders need to be secured at the base (and/or top).

3.      Failure to meet OH&S requirements is unsafe and can lead to fines and/or legal consequences.

The methods to secure a ladder at the base described below are commonly used. Although they work, they have disadvantages. The Ladderprotector provides a new solution while meeting OH&S requirements.

Under these normal conditions of use, the Ladderprotector will assure a large increase in anti-slip efficiency compared to a footed ladder without an anti-slip device.

Surface information

The Ladderprotector gives maximum hold on: wet floors, slippery floors and decks, grass, marble, tiles,

bricked floors, anti-static floors, etc. No guarantee on the anti-slip effect can be given on uneven floors,

hills/slopes, grit and pebbles.

Why it works

The Ladderprotector is a safety product for ladder stabilisation. This product has been designed with quality, strength and durability in mind. The Ladderprotector is a one piece 100% (SBR 70 Shore) vulcanised rubber product. The same composition found in forklift tires. The tire tread like bottom surface provides traction between the device and the ground.

The innovation of the product is based on the fact that it uses both downward force and the bottom profile that increases the coefficient of friction with the ground, and an increased surface area to disperse the ladder user’s weight, to keep the ladder from sliding out. The heavier the person on the ladder, the more traction there is.
