The new T-7 model improves the accuracy and safety in edge tool sharpening thanks to two new innovations, a Square Edge Jig and a Truing and Dressing Tool with screw feed. These developments also make the sharpening more user friendly.
Conventional jigs on the market require that you align the tool in the jig with mounting screws which is time consuming and you lose the exact repeatability at each sharpening. The new Tormek Square Edge jig solves this problem and the chisel will be ground square, i.e. at 90 degrees, each time without any adjustments. This is achieved because the jig automatically aligns the chisel to its flat, machined face.
Another benefit is that the SE-76 can also clamp short and tapered tools firmly, e.g. Japanese chisels. The jig copes with blades up to 76 mm or 3" width.
The new Square Edge Jig SE-76 has safety stops, which prevent the tool from slipping off the stone, which can hurt your fingers.
The other development is a Truing and Dressing Tool TT-50 with screw feed. This enables the user to keep the stone in perfect condition, which is essential for a perfectly sharpened edge.
A seven year warranty applies to all customers including industrial users. This is possible due to the improved coating of the housing, stainless steel main shaft and a powerful, industrial AC motor, which is designed for continuous operation.
The T-7 model has all the latest improvements:

We use this in our cabinet making business, and it sharpens planer blades to a razor edge with a mirror finish. The slow grind speed and water cooling and lubrication ensure the edge doesnt lose its tempering. I also use if for long knives and axes, and it does an great job. A top quality piece of equipment.

The T7 is a $1,000 machine to sharpen a $30 chisel. It is extravagant, however everything is high quality and allows anyone to sharpen to the scary sharp level. Tools come off the wet stone well ground but it is the leather honing wheel that puts the edge on and is the real secret to the level of sharpness. The knife jig is also very expensive and the T7 is a bit small for the large kitchen knives. It does however sharpen kitchen knives very quickly and again to a new level of sharpness. The price of the T7 with jigs is almost too high to justify on practical level. But if you have the money and wants the absolute best then there is nothing else in the same class.

this is a well built machine - probably about the most carefully engineered machine in my workshop. The jigs are also impressive - all appear to made in Sweden like the machine itself. All carefully thought out and with instructions that put the Scheppach to shame.
The new SE-76 jig is very nice - it references from the back the blade when clamping to ensure a square edge. The first thing I noticed was the stone on the Tormek cut quicker than on the Scheppach, plus I could put all my weight and not stall the motor or notice any significant slow down - which really speeds up grinding. The angle guide is so much better than the one that comes with the Scheppach - again you can purchase it seperately. It can be adjusted to work with any wheel size including the honing wheel. It's also much easier to use. The Scheppach one confused me - that could just be me! Straight off the coarsely graded stone I went to my bench stones and went through my normal honing procedure in about 1 minute. It's very easy to freehand hone the nice big bevel if you feel so inclined and both freehand and with my Veritas MKII jig I had a razer sharp edge in a minute or two. I don't regret for a minute buying one after I've been woodworking for 10 years - I've learnt a lot about sharpening in that time.

I have had one of the Tomek machines for about 2 years now and really like it. You can sharpen just about anything with the tool holders that they sell. I think it does a great job. I have used it on my chisels, plane irons and knifes. Have had no problems with it at all. -- Max

I’ve had one for a few years and it is very, very good. Never have to worry about overheating the tool as it is water cooled and the jigs allow perfect repeatability. Yes, it is very expensive for what it is but you will never regret it. Hope this helps Phil
