Customer Product Reviews for 1. Fein Multimaster Start Kit
Awesome toolBy:georgeb3
23-May-2009Pros: Looooooong cord, high-quality construction, easy to use, easy to control
Cons: Kinda pricey - but worth every penny!
I purchased this tool pretty much for one specific job. I was having trouble figuring out how to do a plunge cut into some base trim without cutting the floor or the wall above the trim (I had to remove a small piece of the base trim and replace it.) The tool seemed kind of expensive, but it was worth the money. The saw blade made the plunge cut with ease. It was also very easy to use and control while cutting. Since then I've used it for a whole slew of jobs that would have been difficult with any conventional tool. It is well-made (sturdy), has a nice long cord, is easy to use, and easy to swap blades. The accessory blades are pricey, but I haven't had to replace any yet. I also haven't had any experience with their customer service - but that's because nothing has gone wrong with it! I love this tool and will use it as much as I can!

Fein Multimaster Saved my Employee's ArmBy:lance1ab
23-May-2009We do remodeling and frequently climb ladders and work in tight spaces with nasty rotary and reciprocating saws. I purchased this Fein Multimaster after seeing (and I am embarrassed to say) an infomercial on this tool. I was impressed with the cutting action presented and the fact that it does not cut skin if accidentally touched. I needed it the next week on a job to repair siding and window trim. While removing the trim sash the operator slipped and fell against the tool blade. It did not cut him at all while still operating. Thank goodness!!! The tool does exactly as presented. We also use it for small sheet rock patch removal and it leaves a nice clean edge with minimal dust.

23-May-2009Pros: very versatile
Cons: expensive, especially the accessories
The Bottom Line: An expensive tool but one that will do a lot of tasks very well.
The Multi-master looks like a detail-sander and it fills that role very well, but it also does a lot more. Whatever attachment (saw, scraper, sander, etc) is put on vibrates very, very quickly and results in sawing, scraping, or sanding. One merit is that, like a cast-cutter, it mostly only cuts hard surfaces. Theoretically (are you going to test it out?), most of its attachments won't cut skin.
The tool is very solidly built and seems like it should give many years of use. While the accessories are expensive, most should give long use as well. I imagine we will use the tool for a variety of projects over the years and will get our money's worth out of it.
