Panasonics Lithium-Ion batteries benefit from a lower internal resistance (electrical loss) than manganese lithium , which are the most widely used lithium batteries. High electrical efficiency lets cobalt lithium batteries deliver greater output than manganese lithium batteries. Cobalt lithium batteries are also less prone to increases in temperature than manganese lithium batteries , helping to prevent shortening of service life due to heat.
The overcharge prevention sensor fitted to Panasonic Lithium drills works to prevent overdischarging , discharge of the battery until voltage falls below a minimum threshold,a disadvantage of lithium ion cells.The system cuts off power to the motor before the battery voltage falls too low and flashes a warning lamp on the tools control panel to notify the user.

Panasonic 3.3Ah Cobalt Lithium Ion battery performs better
The method used to conduct this test is to see how many 40mm screws could be driven into 45mm thick Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF). The test was conducted under same conditions for each battery, using impact drivers.
Three tools were tested back to back, The 3.3 amp hour 14.4 panasonic battery, the existing 3.0 amp hour 14.4 volt Panasonic battery and the current market leading 3.0 amp hour 18 volt lithium ion battery from another manufacturer.
